Rumors are circling the gaming industry that Senators Harry Reid and Jon Kyl of Nevada and Arizona, respectively are establishing a deal to legalize online poker very soon. With little evidence for over a year, reports cannot be conclusive, but with Tuesday reports from the National Journal stated that the politicians are nearly reaching an agreement to accomplish and generate a bi-partisan support politically – online casinos supporters are hopeful.

According to the Editor at Tech Daily Dose, Reid said that along with Senator Kyl, they’ve pushed very hard to see to the legalization of online poker in particular, rather than the whole of the internet casino industry. But in order for that to take effect, Reid and Kyl need to gather support – specifically from Republicans, which currently is an issue. Reid did not mention the deal’s position, but an aide from the Democratic side stated that Reid wants Kyl and Nevada’s Republican Senator Dean Heller to promote the legalization of online casinos poker to the Republicans.

Kyl has been the leading opposition in regards to online casinos and internet games and he is now an important factor for a successful deal. In addition, The Journal also reports that the DoJ’s acknowledgement of the Wire Act last December only applies to Internet sportsbetting – which opens a significant chance for individual states to independently legalize iGaming in several forms. Currently, several states have been taking into account the idea of legalizing Internet gaming locally. New Jersey, Delaware, and Nevada have agreed to legalize the pastime and Reid is anxiously vying for a spot to ensure that Nevada will be the first one on the list to provide Internet gaming legally. The Journal also notes that political interest has intrigued investors who are willing to invest their money in social gaming companies, hoping that the barriers between iGaming and social gaming will be distinct.
